Event Details

The Lough Derg Adventure Challenge (Sprint and Endurance Races) will include the disciplines of kayaking, trekking, cycling, and orienteering. Some special tasks may also be included. Both racers must be over 18 to register to race.

The Sprint Race will be designed to suit first-time team adventure racers and aims to give participants a good taste of what’s involved with doing a team adventure race. navigation will not be difficult, paddling will be easy and biking and foot stages will not be hard.

The Endurance Race – well that’s a different matter. This will be designed to challenge teams so expect a bit more challenge!

Participants will compete in teams of two (male/female or mixed), working through each stage in both races, checking in at numerous checkpoints during each race. Faster teams can choose to go for a few extra controls in respective races while slower teams can choose to keep it tight and just go for the mandatory controls.

Don’t worry, the map reading and navigation will be easy for the sprint category but maybe a little more challenging for the endurance race.

Course maps for both races will be provided to each team on race morning, with all race controls marked on the map.

For Sprint teams, the map will include a suggested route that may be followed for the mandatory controls with optional bonus controls & some route choices for faster teams.

For Endurance teams, it will be up to each team to decide their own route during the race.
